Ⅰ. Guidance

Basedon the standpoints, viewpoints and methods of Marxism, Maoist Ideology and DengXiaoping Theory, the specialty trains students to develop scientific habits ofmind with good psychological quality, noble humanistic sentiment and workethic. Graduates should possess basic mastery of journalism and communicationtheory and strong operational ability of research and practice.

Ⅱ. Objectives

1、Have a certain humanistic quality, andsystematically grasp the theoretical knowledge and practical skills of journalismand communication.

2、Be proficient in using various new mediatechnologies and adapt to the new media communication environment.

3、Be familiar with the promotion policiesand regulations of journalism and communication in China, have basic knowledgeof principles of media management and public relations, and have the ability toinvestigate and think.

4、Be competent for the communication of theintegration of traditional news agencies, enterprises,institutions andpropaganda public relations and new media. Graduates will have the potential ofgiving overall thoughts and innovating with pioneering spirit.

Ⅲ. Requirements for Graduation

1、Patriotic, honest and law-abiding, with the correctvalues and ethics; with highly social responsibility and team-work spirits;with good scientific and cultural awareness.

2、Master requisitefundamentals of the discipline and possess certain knowledge of humanities andsocial sciences.

3、Students willselect their study progress under faculty advisers’ guidance in theirdepartment, and graduate after getting required 148 credits.

Length ofSchooling: 4 years, students who meet the requirements for the degree willbe  awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree.

4、It is recommended that students select courses whichcredits are not higher than 27 at the most and not lower than 20 in the 1st and 2nd grade each semester, while students select course whichcredits are not higher than 24 at the most and not lower than 14 in the 3rd and 4th grade.

5、The compulsory module of general education requiresstudents to choose one course with 2-credit course in Mathematics andStatistics, the optional module of general education requires students tochoose 2-credit course in general education, the optional module of generaleducation requires students to choose 8 credits, and the optional module ofplatform courses in social sciences requires students to choose 2-creditcourse, suggesting students to choose “Social Work and a Better Life.”

6、Students are required to graduate in advance or extendthe study time which is not more      than 6 years(include stopping off school).
