Chunfeng received his PhD in Media and Communicationfrom the Institute of Communications Research (ICR) at University of Illinois,Urbana-Champaign in 2018. His research has focused on propaganda, broadlydefined as dissemination of ideological messages through the news media andpopular culture, especially through non-traditional media forms such as socialmedia. His research interests lie in many areas, including critical/cultural studiesof popular culture, journalism studies, media history, new media studies, andpolitical economy of communication. His work has been published in journalssuch as Communication andCritical/Cultural Studies, AsianJournal of Communication, British Journalof Sociology of Education, as well as in several anthologies.
