The Degree Committee of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education approved M.A. in Fine Arts in 2011. In 2012, the school enrolled M.A. students in Art. This program inherits the practical tradition of ECNU and enjoys academic resources of arts to reflect the advantages of this subject. With the ideal of “broad knowledge and outstanding skills”, this program focuses on students’ practice ability to nurture high-level and applied talents of communication facing new media environment.

This program has the following specializations: digital media art, broadcasting and hosting art, and media and creative writing (department of Chinese Language and Literature). The training of this program is mainly involved with training in studios with distinctive curriculum. The specialization of digital media art is equipped with four studios, such as Creative Studio of Virtual Space, Creative Studio of Audio and Visual Programs, 3D (4D) stereoscopic film and television research room, Design Studio. The courses are All Media Communication, Digital Media Art Creation, Films and New Media Screenwriting Art, Theory and Practice of Moving Image, and Visual Art. The specialization of broadcasting and hosting art is also equipped with four studios：Hosting Studio for different programs, New Media Hosting Studio, Hosts Oral Communication Studio, Media Performance Studio. The courses are Programs Hosting and Creation, Broadcasting and Hosting Creation with New Media, Hosting in Different Programs, Expression Art of Languages, Impromptu Oral Communication of Hosts, Studies of Program Hosting History, Dramatic Work Experiences, Theory and Practice of Performance.

Graduates are able to work in TV stations, Broadcasting and TV programs production companies, art groups, universities, governments. This program provides applied and compound talents who are greatly needed by the society, therefore it receives much attention of employers.
